The passing of Lion PDG Grant Chisholm has necessitated a change in the location of the 2008 Youth Exchange Camp. We are planning on hosting the camp at the Bluewater Outdoor Education Centre in Oliphant. The Youth Camp Committee, including the District Governor and Vice District Governor has examined 8 possible locations and settled on the Bluewater Education Centre as the site for the 2008 camp. The cost of renting this or any of the locations examined is greater than we have experienced in the recent past. The past generosity of PDG Grant made the camp programme at Huronia less expensive than other comparable facilities. In order to continue to offer our International exchange students, our guests, a positive, healthy and fun experience, additional funding is required for the operation of the camp programme. |

Ink Jet Recycling Program Cancelled |

Lion P.C.C./M.D.'A' Secretary Dave,
I'd appreciate it if you could disseminate the following info to the M.D.'A' District Governors with a request that they send it on to their Clubs. It's from Exec. Dir. Sandy Turney & it says this: "The ink jet recycling program that we have been participating in has been cancelled. Over the past several months, fewer cartridges have been accepted and the company has experienced higher costs so that it is no longer a profitable fundraiser for us. If you receive any calls from people who wish to send in their cartridges to the Foundation or to the company, please let them know that the program has ended. If they would still like to recycle their cartridges, there are many places that will accept used cartridges, including Staples stores across the country." Thanks very much Lion Dave. |
